The Director, System Operations Center is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective operations of all power transmission real time operations and switching activities within the jurisdiction of the Transmission Control Center : North (TCC:N), including the supervision of all personnel assigned transmission switching and system real time reliability duties on the Entergy Transmission System.
Provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the Transmission Control Center group. Interfaces with other Transmission Operations personnel as necessary to ensure Entergys transmission system remains safe and reliable.
Assures safe real time transmission operations and switching practices in accordance with regulatory and company standards; coordinates transmission facility outages; supervises transmission circuit loading and operating voltage levels.
Represents the department in interdepartmental planning sessions covering construction, rebuild, and other projects.
Directs the development of switching and tagging procedures used in transmission systems. Assures proper training of system operators in the areas of switching, maintaining system integrity, and real time reliability for the Entergy transmission system.
Ensures the Transmission Control Center has sufficient procedures and processes to maintain compliance with the real:time operations aspects of the NERC Reliability Standards and MISO business practices.
Actively participate in industry committees, working groups and task forces as needed to support Transmission Operations including but not limited to SERC, NERC, EEI, MISO, and NATF.
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
Minimum 10 years of engineering and/or operational experience.
Minimum 4 years of Supervisory/Managerial/Leadership experience preferred.
