The Sr. Manager Telecommunications Operations is responsible for management and operation of Entergys Telecommunications infrastructure, systems and services. This includes all activities related to the installation, operation, maintenance and restoration of two:way radio, microwave transport, fiber optic transport, and voice communications across a multi:state, multi:region service territory. Because the telecommunication systems are distributed across four states, this role involves leading and managing multiple telecommunications groups, each led by an Telecommunications Operations Regional Manager.


Oversee an Entergy technical and administrative staff in excess of sixty (60), including three Regional Managers, each of whom is responsible for two regions and the employees assigned to those regions. Develop key staff competencies and technical skills. Research and implement best practices for continuous value improvement. Ensure that all supervised employees and contractors utilize standardized processes in the execution of the groups roles and responsibilities.
Manage vendors providing Telecommunications construction, implementation, operation, maintenance and restoration support. Establish and monitor service level agreements with internal customers to achieve a high degree of customer satisfaction. Actively participate in and support Information Technology initiatives to deploy and operate technology solutions for business needs. Increase customer satisfaction.
System:wide responsibility for strategic infrastructure initiatives affecting all Telecommunications customers, such as the Fiber system, and Two:Way Radio system. Support the installation and maintenance of Entergys telecommunications infrastructure. Actively support and engage in activities necessary to develop and implement repeatable methods, processes, and procedures required to routinely operate in compliance with the requirements of the Sarbanes Oxley Act, North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Insure safe work practices for Entergy and contract personnel.
Ensure that all supervised employees and contractors utilize standardized processes in the execution of the roles and responsibilities of the group. Working with Finance, develop multi:year O and M and capital budgets; manage spending within approved budget. Approve material purchases and invoices.
Evaluate performance compared to recognized standards with a goal of top decile performance and conduct routine departmental reviews to insure standardized best practices and continuous value improvement.

Minimum education required of the position

BS/BA in engineering or technical degree or equivalent work experience.

Minimum experience required of the position

10+ years supervisory experience, including leading and managing a middle management team. Experience in delivering technical services to a distributed customer base. Experience in managing diverse projects. Experience in preparing and managing large financial budgets.
